Where can I use my USF ID?
The USF ID card is accepted as a library card at the following locations:

Tampa Campus Library (TCL), including the Library Media Center (LMC); Hinks and Elaine Shimberg Health Sciences Library (Tampa); Florida Mental Health Institute Library (Tampa); Poynter Library (St. Petersburg); Jane Bancroft Cook Library (Sarasota); University of Tampa Library (Tampa); Polk Community College Library (Lakeland); Any State University Library System according to their specific policies; Any State Community College Library System according to their specific policies.

Why doesn't my Library ID Number work?
Library ID Numbers are reactivated each term. New ID cards must be registered through the Circulation Department. If you have a USF Card or Library Card and the number isn't working, email Walter Cone with the following information:

Your name
Your 14 digit Library ID number
Your Social Security Number
Your mailing address
Your email address
.

If it is more convenient, you can visit or call the USF Library Circulation Department nearest you:
Institute Circulation -- 813.974.4471
Tampa Campus Circulation -- 813.974.1611
Sarasota Campus Circulation -- 941.359.4305
St. Pete Campus Circulation -- 727.553.3405

Certain off campus patrons (teaching faculty and registered students) may encounter difficulties accessing library resources using their 14-digit library ID number and proxy settings. These patrons can use their NetID (https://una.acomp.usf.edu/) and enter the VL via myUSF (https://my.usf.edu). It is EXTREMELY important that one undoes all proxy settings prior to attempting to use the MyUSF EzProxy, otherwise the old proxy settings will likely interfere with the MyUSF Proxy.

For those patrons who do not have a NetID, use these settings when establishing proxy: HOST: usf.proxy.fcla.edu PORT: 80 when establishing proxy.

I'm a distance learner- Help!
Distance learners taking classes at USF can use the USFCARD online webform to obtain a USF Card.

Renewals
Renewals are processed in person or electronically via the Web. The Institute Library generally permits unlimited renewals. Exceptions include the Autism, ADD, journal, and reference collections.

Please note that certain borrower groups at the Institute have different borrowing privileges based upon contractual agreements based upon grant or organisational relationships.

Items held or recalled for another patron may not be renewed. With the exception of current BIS students, telephone renewals are not permitted.

Please note: Electronic renewal is a service enhancement that patrons must use responsibly. You must ensure that electronic renewals are processed successfully. You should retain copies of renewal transactions for your records. In the event of an error, these records are necessary to document fine adjustments. If any doubts exist, come to the library and process renewals in person -- this method is foolproof.

Fines
The Institute Library charges 25 cents per book per day for overdue books. Videos, journals, or reference items incur fines at a rate of $2.00 per item per day.

Fines may be paid by cash or check at the Circulation Desk during operating hours. Items borrowed via Interlibrary Loan incur an immediate $10.00 per item fine and temporary suspension of library privileges. Fines in excess of $20.00 results in temporary suspension of library privileges (including access to the self-renewal system).

Please note that recall due dates supercede the original due date.

All individuals who check out items from the Institute Library are liable for fines, including faculty, staff, students, and community users.

Lost Items
Whoever checks out items on their USF card is responsible for lost material replacement costs. To avoid additional fine accrual, immediately report lost items to the Circulation Desk. Failure to return or renew overdue items results in their being deemed "lost" and billed to you.It also results in the loss of library borrowing and renewal privileges.

Interlibrary Loan (or how to obtain items not owned by the Institute Library)
USF Faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students may request items not held by the Institute Library using ILLiad, the USF interlibrary loan service. Online request forms are available at http://web.lib.usf.edu/usflibraries/illiad.html.

The ILL service borrows items from all of the USF libraries as well as from outside the USF Library System. Items must be requested from your home campus ILL Services office. Books may be checked out (in person) using your USF ID card. Articles are mailed directly to you.

Any questions concerning interlibrary loan, please contact Walter Cone or call 813.974.4471.

Holds and Recalls Items identified by LUIS as being on loan may be held or recalled for you after the patron in possession has had the item for two weeks. Web-based hold and recall forms are available at http://www.lib.usf.edu/accsvc/recall.html. Please Note: Recall due dates supercede the original due date. Please return recalled items immediately to avoid incurring fines.

Special Borrower's Cards
The Institute library provides Special Borrower's Cards to interested parties, such as alumni, visitors, and individuals with a preofssional or personal interest in behavioural health. Borrower's cards allow community users to borrow items from the Institute and the Tampa Campus Library circulating book collection. Materials may be borrowed from 3-6 weeks depending upon item.

Proxy Cards
Patrons may extend their privileges to a student assistant or secretaryby requesting a proxy/family card. To accomplish this, send the individual to your home campus Circulation Desk with the following information: your name; your Social Security number OR USF ID card number (begins with the numbers "205"); the individual's name, and the date you wish the proxy card to expire.

Please note: the patron requesting the proxy card is fully responsible for items charged to his/her account by the designated individual.
