GEROPSYCHOLOGY POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS AVAILABLE
USF's Dept of Aging & Mental Health The joint University of South Florida (USF) and James A. Haley Veterans Hospital HRSA-funded geropsychology fellowship program is recruiting for 3 post-doctoral positions with a preferred August 23, 2005 start date. The major thrust of the fellowship is geriatric public sector interdisciplinary training. The program provides an integrated framework to achieve clinical, didactic, program evaluation, and advocacy goals: 1) delivery of state-of-the-art evidence-based psychological services to disadvantaged older adults in geriatric public sector primary care sites; 2) mastery of the knowledge base on diversity and interdisciplinary teamwork as they relate to providing services to older adults, including those residing in rural areas; 3) gaining competence in the evaluation of services to disadvantaged older adults; and 4) experience in public health advocacy for improvement of the mental health system. Supervisors include faculty from the USF Department of Aging and Mental Health of the Florida Mental Health Institute, USF School of Aging Studies, and the Tampa VA Psychology Service. Minimum qualifications: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and have completed all requirements for the doctorate from an APA-approved clinical or counseling PhD/PsyD program including an APA-approved internship. Preferred qualifications: Special consideration is given to those who have shown long-standing interest in the aged as reflected in prior coursework in life-span development and practicum experience with disadvantaged older adults, and especially those who express a desire to continue serving minority, frail, or rural older adults in an interdisciplinary setting. Minority applicants and those who have an interest in advocacy for geriatric mental health issues are encouraged to apply. Stipends are based on years of post-doctoral experience and range from $34,200-$40,920.
